Bamboo Floor care is not a difficult undertaking

Proper bamboo floor care is important. You invested your valuable time deciding which bamboo flooring would best compliment your décor. Then you invested your hard-earned money purchasing your carefully-made choice and preparing for its installation. Now, the job is finished and you’re standing there admiring your beautiful new bamboo floor

You can’t wait to move the furniture in and invite everyone you know over to share your excitement. But before you do, there are a few things you need to know to protect your investment and keep it looking as great as it does now.

The manufacturers probably included Bamboo floor care and maintenance recommendations with their product. However, if you didn’t find such information with your flooring, the next best thing to do is supply us with some basic information about the product you purchased.  After all, there is no one better qualified to tell you how to care for your bamboo floor than the flooring professor! The manufacturer is usually your number one resource for product information. And we are your number one connection to your manufacturers recommended information. Once you have supplied the information we need to register your product we will include in our initial response your manufacturers contact information as well as other helpful tips of importance.

Often there may be bamboo floor care or other customer service info on the carton, but many times it is not as useful as it should be. Don’t panic. We have a comprehensive Floor care guide that includes a Bamboo floor care section in it. We have also compiled a generic list of common sense basic recommendations – and here they are:

• Carry, do not drag or push furniture across your bamboo floor

This will help avoid gouges as well as reduce the possibility of unwanted scratches in your new floor.

• Put felt or nylon (hard plastic type) protector pads under each furniture leg

This is just common sense protection from fine scratches. (but be sure to check often as the hard plastic may get sharp edges, or the felt pads will fill with dirt and sand and actually become abrasive to your floor!!)

• Lay mats or throw rugs with non-abrasive backing at each doorway

This will help to catch soil and moisture and keep them from causing severe and permanent damage to your new floor. This is often overlooked, but is a crucial part of good bamboo floor care or any other hard surface flooring care for that matter.

• DO not walk on the floor with spike high heels or athletic cleats

We can't believe that we even have to tell some people this <shaking head> but believe it or not We do

• Install curtains, blinds, or window tint to help reduce UV faded areas

If someone tries to tell you that UV has no effect on today's finishes they are NOT being honest! The effects of UV rays even with UV resistant windows WILL affect all floor finishes, just some more than others.

• Keep any pets’ claws closely trimmed

We love our babies! BUT, let's not forget the damage they can do unintentionally to our beautiful new floors.

• Place a drip pan or a tray under plants, but be sure to allow for airflow underneath it

This will act as an extra layer of protection between your beautiful bamboo flooring and unnecessary moisture. Moisture in excess is not good for ANY wood based flooring product.

• Regularly clean your bamboo floor with a dust mop, soft bristled broom, soft bristled vacuum cleaner, or a wood floor mop kit If possible

Again DO NOT over saturate ANY wood based flooring product with water!!

• Immediately clean food and liquid spills with a slightly dampened cloth, then dry the floor with a soft clean cloth or towel

See previous advice!! DO NOT over saturate!
