In recent years We have had many hard surface products show up in our market that were produced in China. We have seen this do mainly good things and embrace it in our industry. We find ourselves now able to offer wood and laminate flooring of fine quality at very affordable prices to the consumer. Also has been the skyrocketing popularity of bamboo floors which have many brands produced in China. This has driven down the pricing of both wood and laminate flooring and not caused a deterioration in quality IF you know how to determine quality. We see this trend continuing and the Chinese made hard surface products category continuing to grow.
But we are now asking the question is china going to hurt the multi billion dollar carpet industry in the US? It is our opinion that currently because there is no real domestic market for carpet of any size in china, that it will take several years before we need have any worry about that. Most of what is produced there is olefin and of lower quality and the US market has a high demand for upper level carpets focused on design and styling as well as high quality.
We feel this will be a factor one day, but not for several years. For now we are focused on the great things china is doing for the US wood flooring, laminate flooring, and bamboo sectors of our industry.

Most people believe you can use grocery store brand cleaning products on laminate flooring without causing maintenance problems. People often purchase these products, use them on their new laminate floor, then find out they have either caused a maintenance problem, or they have in some cases caused their warranty to now be void. We had a customer ask today about what to clean their laminate floor with, and we made our standard recommendation. However, then we were asked "what do I do to remove the residue left from me using the wrong product?" Well, the product they had used was a floor cleaner/finish so our technician recommended using a 1/2 cup ammonia in 1 gallon of warm water on a well rung out mop...do not saturate your floor! make sure the area is well ventilated! for more information on what cleaning products to use be sure to subscribe for free to EZ floor facts
If you are getting creative and want to cut wall tile into circular shapes here is how...If they are truly "wall tiles" it will be quite simple. If you need a small circle use a diamond tip "hole saw" blade available at any quality hardware or home center for a standard drill. If the circle needs to be larger than about 1 1/2-2 inches there are two fairly good methods. 1) if you are skilled with power tools you can use an angle grinder with a diamond blade mark your circle out and grind your way to success! 2) (and this is the best recommendation we can make for the average person) You can use a rotary tool "rotozip" type tool with a diamond blade. again mark off your circle and have a steady hand and it will be just fine! As a very last resort if you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself if you check your local listings you may find companies that do laser or water jet cutting. (another method of finding these companies may be find your local tile wholesale distributor and ask them who does it. they can cut ANY shape r size in a snap! Good Luck!
