General wood floor care involves first removing loose debris from the surface of your floor. Obviously larger items can be picked up and removal of other smaller loose particles can be done in a number of ways. Most of the well known methods can be used safely on most hardwood floors such as a traditional dust mop, a broom and dustpan, or a vacuum WITH a hard surface cleaning attachment. Any of these methods should certainly be acceptable for your wood floor.
Deep cleaning of your new wood flooring involves "wet" cleaning. this method of wet cleaning can be done a number of ways.
But the safest and most common is a
mopping method with a special type of mop and wood floor cleaner
from a standing position. There are a variety of mop kit brands
available available today and some work much better than others. We
advise that you use one of our recommended wood floor care kits. For
your convenience we have a great offer we suggest you try for
Orange Glo Hardwood Floor Cleaner and Polish System
which is one of our favorites. Be
sure whatever method you use that you NEVER saturate your wood
flooring product with an excessive amount of water. This also holds
true when wet cleaning any other "wood based" flooring product.
Stain removal on hardwood floors is less often discussed than on carpets because there are less things that will stain wood floors than carpets. Although there are things that will stain your hardwood flooring, each has a unique method to attempt to remove it. We have included a generic stain removal guide for each type flooring in this site. We do suggest however that you ALWAYS verify the manufacturers position before using any methods that may void your warranty. insider help in this area is available in our informative flooring care and cleaning guide
